Saturday, June 2nd, was Operation: Restore Maximum Freedom V! It went quite well and there were many great bands to see. Best of all, it was done by 10pm instead of 12am, so staying till the end wasn't a difficulty for those who'd like to not just go home and crash on the couch for the last half-hour of some disappointing SNL. After the festival was over I got to help Killimanjaro with taking his drunk gf and her sister's bike to a car to be driven so they couldn't ride the dark, long country roads back to Davis in drunken pedal by drunken mile. They rode there and were damn determined to ride back, despite Killimanjaro's insistence on getting a very possible ride. After hearing the difficulty spring back and forth, I finally posed the possibility of taking their bikes and putting them in a car so there was no choice. It took some time, but we were able to get the bikes into the back of a Saturn wagon, who's hatch wouldn't close and kept opening on the drive back - with delightful moments of Killimanjaro running out from the passenger side at strategic stops to close the hatch as best it would go down. We delivered the bikes successfully, congregated at Klinger's abode where just beside the front door was a proudly displayed black widow. After discussing the widow and our fear of it, Killimanjaro grabs a plastic dustpan, raises the pan flat side bottom toward the spider, does a quick back and forth dance from heel to heel, then tosses the pad in the air and delivers a devastating kick to the pan, transferring the force of his propelled size 12 into the wall through the fated widow. The sheer shock of Killimanjaro's mighty manliness is the actual cause of death to the black widow. Being smashed was only a side effect. We then all walked to In N' Out and ate melted cheese on bun and fries between pairs. It was delicious.
