Exodus: Journey 3
Hello people. 2007 has so far been an awesome year for shows. Already in the first week I got to see the Saboteurs, whom I played a song from each 7-inch on the last Exodus, and this past week I got to see The Black Lips and Jay Reatard. If you said, "Holy moly shit!" that's right. While The Black Lips played in Sactown, making for an easy trip downtown, the Jay Reatard show was in San Francisco which meant that despite having lived there for 2 and half years, parking is no easier. Especially cause I took public transportation most everywhere. Atop that, there was a multi-car pile up on the freeway in Vacaville. Fortune was on the side of Killimanjaro and I, so we were aware of the delay and made plans for an alternate route through the lovely fields of Dixon ("excuse me, Dick-skin," says Killimanjaro). We left Davis around 3:30pm, arrived in S.F. at 6pm, when the show was slated to start, and proceeded to search for parking. Nearly an hour later I find a spot, we park, and walk at least 20 blocks to a sold out show. Mother-balls! Long story short, my patience, stubborness, and desire to continue on got us in after about 2 songs in of Jay Reatard, Tokyo Electron - the opening band - had already played, just finished as we approached actually. Awesomeness! It was cool and I went away with 4 new 7-inch's, one of which was a Black Lips 7-inch I didn't buy when I saw them 4 days before because I didn't have the money. I also bought a tee-shirt from each show, but those weren't for me. They went to the lil'lady who was unable to go to either show for under-aged reasons.
This show started off with some slow folk and walked its way up to some poppy stuff and slid away with the pop-punk, featuring some Sactown favorites. Twas also my birthday.
